## Mr Harris’ maths 13th March

This has been the first week of our revision programme and the children have worked really hard. Most appear to be doing the little bit of pre-reading before each lesson which will help. We have revised all the key calculations this week: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. They have just about all got long multiplication but some are still struggling with long division. Much of the work this week will have felt familiar – that’s a good sign in a revision programme!

We have done lots of practice questions from SATS. We also did a practice Mental Arithmetic SAT (2008) and the average score has risen from 13 or 14 points earlier in the year, to 17 this week (one child absent). All the children did well, but Ella, Ruby and Charlie Mi made particularly pleasing improvement. The question sheet and audio file is below if you would like to listen to what the children had to answer:

Homework is finishing the Subtraction and Division worksheets (above), both of which have already been started. Pre-reading for Tuesday relates to negative numbers.
