Leeds Book Awards 2018
Wednesday 23rd May |
This week, I had the privilege of accompanying six Year 6 children to the Leeds Book Awards at Pudsey Civic Hall. These children have been a part of a book group who have been reading and reviewing the short-listed books over the past few months. At the ceremony, we were entertained by the very funny host and listened to some of the short-listed authors talk about their books, inspiration and tips for writers. It was wonderful to be a part of a group of 500 Year 6 children who all love Literacy and books! At the end of the morning, we were able to meet J.R. Wallis, author of “The Boy with One Name” – one of our favourite books.
We were very happy to find out that the winner of the 2018 Leeds Book Awards is Emma Carroll, author of “Letters from a Lighthouse.” She was unable to attend the event but sent a message to say thank you. Click HERE to see her video message.
