Flashback Narrative Stories in 6W
Our new Literacy topic is flashback stories. Authors and directors use flashbacks to help develop and structure a narrative story. A flashback can give the reader or viewer a deeper understanding of a particular event or character.
Pixar use flashbacks to introduce the character of Carl in UP, while Tim Burton uses flashbacks to help you find out more about Williy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
This week we have looked at a short film called Eye of the Wolf.
The film uses flashbacks to tell the stories of Wolf and Africa (the two main characters). Once we watched the film, we thought carefully about the structure of the narrative and turned it into a storyboard. We all agreed that there were 3 narratives at work – take a look at our work and see what narratives they are.
