Discussion text sentence builder
Discussion texts have a particulary style.
1. They use connectives to link sentences and build an argument.
2. They use passive phrases to hide who the sentence is about -they do not make it explicitly clear who the sentence is about.
eg ‘Ruth Parry believes Mr Wolf should go to jail could become, ‘Local people believe Mr Wolf should go to jail.
3. They use conditional phrases that include an ‘if’ phrase to explain what would, could, should or might happen.
eg. If Mr Wolf had not been so hungry, he might have been able to resist threatening the 3 little pigs.
